Team Classifications and Guidelines

Serious consideration was given by the So Cal Classification Board on what teams needed to be recalssified to better the game of Softball in Southern California. Teams that have been reclassified will be required to play a minimum number of tournaments before they will be allowed to petition their classification.

The player list is currently being updated to reflect the following changes in the program. Players will also be able to appeal their classification as of January 1, 2008

There is an appeal process for those players that believe they have been incorrectly placed on the List. The link to this appeal is available above under the 'Player List Appeal' tab.

This Classification System has been agreed upon by the following local representatives of the National Associations.

ASA / WSL

*Teams will be allowed no more than 2 players that have been reclassified from a higher division during the 2008 season, without receiving approval from the Classification Board.

"+" Player Rating
In 2007 the Appeals Board created a "+" rating. A player that has a "+" next to his rating will be allowed to play at that level and no be counted as a chip, but if they attempt to play 1 division down then they will count as 2 chips. For example a player that is rated C+ can play on any C team and not count as a chip but if he attempts to play on a D team he will count as 2 chips.

General Guidelines for 2008"B" Teams

Guidelines for this division will be 3 (three) A rated players.In ASA and WSL No player that appears on the ASA National Restricted Players List will be allowed to be play below the A Division. *

A "C" Division team will be allowed 3 (three) B rated players. *

General Guidelines for 2008 "D" Division Teams

A "D" Division team will be allowed 3 (three) C rated players. *

No B rated players are allowed to partcipate in the D Division without State Directors approval.
